The coach behind it

I'm Michael Savage, a personal trainer based in Scotland.

My own training started in the gym, chasing strength. Running came much later, and it changed how I thought about fitness completely — marathon training taught me more about patience and consistency than any six-week plan ever has. These days most of my own training is hybrid: lifting through the week, miles at the weekend, and several HYROX events behind me.

I started coaching because I kept meeting people who were working genuinely hard and getting nowhere. Not lazy — just badly advised. Too many conflicting programmes, too much noise online, too many rules that nobody could keep up for more than a fortnight.

What actually works is far less complicated than the internet makes it look. So that's what I coach: a plan that fits your real week, training you can repeat when life gets busy, and someone in your corner who notices when you go quiet.

What I can help with

Different goals, same method. Everything below is coached the same way — a clear plan, sensible progression and honest feedback.

Fat loss

Lose fat without living on lettuce. A sensible calorie target, enough protein, and training that protects the muscle you already have.

Muscle building

Structured lifting, progressive overload and enough food to actually grow. Simple, repetitive, and it works.

Running

5k through to marathon. Easy miles that stay easy, hard sessions that count, and a build that doesn't wreck your legs.

HYROX & hybrid

Running fitness and strength in the same week without one ruining the other. Station practice, pacing and a race-day plan.

Body recomposition

Leaner and stronger at the same time. Slower than a crash diet, and far more likely to still be there in a year.

Gym confidence

New to the gym, or coming back after time away? Learn the lifts properly, walk in with a plan and stop guessing.

Ways to work with me

Three options. If you're not sure which one suits you, message me and I'll tell you honestly.

1-to-1 personal training

In person, Scotland

Face-to-face sessions where I coach every rep. Technique fixed as it happens, the session adjusted to what you can actually do that day, and no wasted time. Best if you want hands-on coaching and a fixed appointment in the diary.

Hybrid coaching

In person + online

The best of both. Regular sessions with me for the coaching that has to happen in person, plus a full online programme and support for the rest of the week. Best if you want in-person contact without training with a coach every session.

What's included

Every client gets all of this, whichever option you choose.

Personalised programming

Built around your goal, your schedule and the equipment you actually have access to.

Nutrition guidance

Targets that fit your life. No banned foods and no meal plan you'll abandon by Thursday.

Accountability

Someone who notices when the sessions stop, and asks you why.

Regular check-ins

A scheduled conversation about what's working, what isn't, and what changes next.

Progress tracking

Weight, measurements, lifts and photos — reviewed properly rather than guessed at.

Ongoing support

Message me between sessions. Questions get answered, not parked until next week.

My approach

Four things decide whether you get results. None of them are complicated, and all of them are hard.

Discipline

Doing the session on the days you don't fancy it. That's where the progress is.

Consistency

An average plan followed for a year beats a perfect plan followed for three weeks.

Progression

A little more weight, a little more distance, a little better technique. Every week.

Sustainability

If you can't keep it up around work, family and a social life, it isn't the right plan.

No gimmicks. No shortcuts. Just hard work, consistency and results.
